Celery is great choice if you are watching your weight and has other beneficial compounds that help with your health.

Celery is related to carrots and parsley and it’s available all year round. Celery provides with vitamin A, B1, B2 and Vitamin K as well as the minerals calcium, phosphorus and silicon. It is rich in potassium and sodium. The compounds in the celery appear to be useful in toning the heart and blood vessels. These compounds can also be useful in cases of migraine and lower the blood pressure. It is rich in Iron, Magnesium and carotene.

Celery can be eaten raw in salads or with dips. It can be used in soups or as garnish for other foods, as well as can control appetite when eaten between meals. It increases urination and bring on menstruation.

Celery juice has been used to ease of edema and clear skin problems. When Celery combined with lemon juice it help prevent a cold developing. It also used for treating hypertension.

The celery seeds are used as a sedative, the minerals in celery, especially magnesium, and the essential oil in it, soothe the nervous system. If you enjoy a celery-based snack in the evening, you will sleep better. Celery can combat cancer. It relieves flatulence as well as used as remedy for rheumatism and bronchitis. Dried ground celery is sold as salt substitute for low sodium diets. Choose celery with upright stalks that snap when bent, the darker the colour the stronger the flavor and richer in nutrients.
